01 THE CHALLENGE
On the MACPro program, application teams operated across dozens of AWS accounts, an on-premises legacy estate, and multiple programming languages — without a strong shared platform layer.
A newly formed platform team needed to create solutions, shared services, reusable code, and best practices that could serve a broad range of program needs without becoming a bottleneck.
02 WHAT WE DID
Broadwing staffed founding platform engineering capacity and delivered concrete shared capabilities:

Shared 508 accessibility API — Created the first shared service — a 508 API with a maintainable authorization scheme usable across MACPro applications.

Streaming platform maturation — Helped mature a shared streaming platform several program-wide applications depend on, including transformation patterns and examples for app teams.

Platform improvements and enablement — Implemented platform improvements (including serverless upgrades, identity patterns, health checks) and provided documentation and pull requests so application teams could adopt them.
03 THE OUTCOME
MACPro application teams gained reusable platform services and practices across a complex multi-account and hybrid estate — reducing one-off solutions and giving the program a foundation for consistent delivery.
